In Spring 2011, Dan Wiegand retired from Miami University, Oxford, Ohio.
Prior to his retirement, he was a lecturer in the Department of Accountancy.
He was the former coordinator of Miami's Introduction to Financial Accounting course and previously taught Introductory Financial Accounting to over 1,300 students each year. Dan also taught the accounting module in Miami's MBA program and the Professional MBA program.
Dan came to Miami with over 30 years of business experience. He was an auditor with Ernst & Ernst, the Controller of a manufacturing corporation, the Vice President of Finance of two manufacturing corporations, and the Founder and President of a software development firm. Dan spent time as a seminar leader for over 80 continuing professional education programs for CPA's.
Dan served in the United States Army in Washington, D.C. and in Vietnam. He holds a B.S. degree in accounting from Miami University and a M.B.A. degree in finance and accounting from Miami University. On the CPA exam, Dan placed 2nd in the State of Ohio and received the Elijah Watts Sells Award for National Honorary Distinction.
